Youth
State Youth Policy is of strategic importance as one of the most important functions of the state. Its purpose is to establish legal, economic and organizational conditions and guarantees to ensure the political, socio-economic, and cultural development of Armenia. The ultimate aim is to ensure the broad development, self-affirmation, and self-manifestation of young generation, which respects national and universal values, as well as has a high sense of responsibility towards its motherland and nation.
The State Youth Policy is targeted towards;
- 16-30-year-old citizens of the Republic of Armenia
- 16-30-year-old foreigners, individuals with no citizenship - as far as their presence in the territory of the Republic of Armenia may cause responsibilities of the respective bodies.
- NGO-s registered in Armenia, that employ individuals aged 30 or younger, or/and that are engaged in activities targeted at this age group
- Young families, if the age of at least one of the spouses does not exceed 30 years.
For the implementation of youth policy the following activities are being carried out:
- Drafting of legal documents in the field of youth policy,
- Fostering the activities of regional centers, formation of their governing councils (NGOs, international organizations, active youth)
- Maintenance and update of databases of regional youth NGOs.
The projects stemming out from 2009-2012 Action Plan for the Implementation of RA State Youth Policy Strategy for 2008-2012 are being developed and implemented at the Ministry of Sport and youth Affairs of the Republic of Armenia.
The Policy Priorities of the Ministry of Sport and youth Affairs of the Republic of Armenia for 2008 to 2012 are:
- Creation of equal opportunities to provide the youth with quality education due to their aspirations, aptitudes and prowess
- Creation of workplaces, providing opportunities to get educated
- Improvement of socio-economic situation of the youth
- Propagation of healthy lifestyle amongst the youth as well as spiritual, cultural, and state-patriotic education.
The most important programs and projects being implemented by the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs of the RA are:
- "Available Apartment for Young Family" - state target program
- Introduction and realization of the online system of grant applications of programs presented by NGOs and their selection based on competition
- Development and realization of programs aimed at educating youth in the spirit of patriotism
- "Dialogue of Cultures" youth festival
- Annual competition of scientific-technical and research projects presented by young researchers
- Development of activities aimed at the enhancement of international youth collaboration
- Organization of activities aimed at fight against trafficking in the framework of youth programs
