Two Medals from the World Championships Two Medals from the World Championships 08 September, 2010 The National team of Armenia won the first medal in the G/R Wrestling World Championships, taking place in Moscow, Russia. Roman Amoyan, the holder of the silver of the last year’s championships (55 kg weight category) took the bronze this year. While struggling for the bronze Roman literally crushed Venelin Venkov, representing Bulgaria with the score of 18:0, 9:0. And on 7 September our G/R Wrestling team took the second medal at the Championships. Yuri Patrikeev, one of the most awarded athletes of our team, reached the Finals, where he lost the fight to Nuñes Lopez from Cuba, the acting Champion of the Olympic Games. In the fight with Lopez he lost in 2 rounds thus taking the silver. And his opponent became the Champion of the world for the 4th time in-a-row.
Today it’s the turn of Arsen Julfalakyan (74kg weight category) to perform, and there is a hope that he will not disappoint the expectations of our compatriots.
